Flight training in a Piper PA-28

At Flight Training UK, we understand that learning to fly and maintaining your flying qualifications is a significant investment. We don't pretend flying is inexpensive, but we do believe you should receive excellent value for money, professional instruction and a friendly, personal service.

We specialise in Single Engine Piston (SEP) and Touring Motor Glider (TMG) training, together with a wide range of differences training, licence upgrades, revalidation and pilot development courses.

Prices per Hour

Biennial / Revalidation Flight: £85 for a 1-hour flight with an instructor in your own SEP or TMG aircraft.

SEP Hire with Instructor: £265 per hour, for example in a Piper Cherokee.

TMG Hire with Instructor: £180 per hour in our well-equipped Scheibe SF25E Super Falke.

Complex Aircraft: Prices available on application, depending on the aircraft and training required. Typically £250–£400 per hour, excluding landing fees.

Ground School: £50 for the first 2 hours, followed by £35 per hour for each subsequent session.

Variable Pitch Propeller Differences Training: Flying and ground school – £POA

Retractable Undercarriage Differences Training: Flying and ground school – £POA

Tailwheel Differences Training: 5 hours flying plus ground school – £POA

TMG & Self-Launching Motor Glider (SLMG) Class Rating: Based on 5 hours flying – £800*

Simple Single Engine Aircraft (SSEA) & Single Engine Piston (SEP) Class Rating: Based on 5 hours flying – £1,300*

Biennial & Cross-Channel Check-Out: Based on two pilots, flying one 1-hour leg each way – £265 per leg.

Student flying a motor glider TMG Class Ratings & Extensions
Add a TMG class rating to a LAPL, NPPL, PPL or CPL, or add TMG privileges to an existing Sailplane Pilot Licence.


Please note: The above prices exclude non-base landing fees, multiple circuits/touch-and-goes, and any applicable TK, FE or CAA fees.
